what mpg do you get from yours :?:

Cheers mate, it's getting there, slowly. Although I don't know the mpg Geoff's right, it's definetly pretty good.

perkins mk1's will be a very rare thing soon - most seem to get removed (guilty) and it's a shame - infact if i had one spare i'd fit it back in my mk1 pickup :!:

I have a soft spot for the 4/108.I used to work on a lot of boats with them fitted. They stand incredible amounts of abuse. We'd sometimes raise boats that had sunk and have the engines running within a few hours (you can't hang about too long when they start to dry out is when the damage gets done).
I also worked on Lister Blackstones, and single cylinder Field Marshalls,I'm now off down memory lane all on my own.Bye for now.

Nothing to do with this but.........................
I once had to collect a boat and take it by river 10 miles to the boat yard.It was an old wooden thing fitted with a Leyland lorry or bus engine.Bloody great 6 cyliner diesel with a four speed and reverse gear box!..They hadn't got round to rigging the clutch up so you had to stop the engine to go from forward to reverse.I've seen some bodging in my time but this was a classic. The new owner rigged up a clutch and used to change gear going along I think he thought rivers had hills, but the thrust from the prop buggered up the box pretty quickly, the engine was bolted in solid to the frames,no mounts and no UJ and vibrated so much that your teeth rattled.
