1980/1981 it became compulsory to have at least one rear fog lamp placed anywhere from the centre to the offside of the rear

As far as I know, they are not compulsory :!:

On the fog light issue, it must be fitted correctly, (ie 4 inches away from brake light) and you must have a visible warning inside for when it's on

Sorry, I meant to say, at least 4 inches away from brake light  (that is to say it can be more)

MOT regs

rear fog lamp:-

only one is needed and it has to fitted to the centre or offside on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980. you will also need a visual tell tale and a secure switch within easy reach of the driver

reversing lights:-

not testable

Better fit the reverse light mate . In my opinion when I will have condensed mirrors and windows , I will have to open up the door and hardly sees what Im doing without rear lights!
