Speedo cable and wing mirrors

Postby Andrewb » Tue Jan 13, 2009 12:07 pm

Hi,
I came to connect my speedo cable to the new type 9 last week, and its just too short. Can anyone suggest a car which had a slightly longer one that will fit, or even let me know length of the mk1 transit one ( I'm away from it at the momment).
Also wondered where people get replacement wingmirror glass for mk1's (1971)?
Thanks for your help,
Andrew

You could try Tex Automotive for replacement mirrors. Link: http://www.texautomotive.com/classic_mirror_heads.html

I think they supply replacement heads with glass fitted, but might be worth giving them a ring to discuss your requirements.

Andrew

Dunno how good this info is.... but I have here a speedo cable for MK3 1600/2000 cortina RHD 70-74 (well thats what it says on the label)

The part no (moprod) is MSD523 and compares to Surespeed 790/83.

Its 83.5 inches long and has the right ends

Typically the little section on the box which gives other part nos and lengths for the cables with the same ends has abraided off :(
