Mk 1 Tax exempt camper value?

Postby Bob Haigh » Sun May 01, 2005 8:49 pm

I have a MK 1 Transit, 1971 (tax exempt) camper van which needs a fair bit of tidying inside and out but it has just got a claen bill of health with a full 12 months MOT.

It is a 2L and runs well.

Fitted with gas/12v fridge, gas cooker and grill, loo, gas fire and electric pumped cold water to sink unit. 2 birth with range of cupboards and wardrobe. It has an elevating roof with roof vents

It was used regularly until about 8 years ago to tow a trailer van and racing bikes to bike meetings but since then had sadly doubled as a vehicle to transport rubbish to the local tip. I have owned it for abput 2- years. It was originally professionally converted from a 9 seater bus.

Any idea if I stick it on E bay what is the reserve I should put on it and what price range could I realistically expect it to go for?

Cheers

Bob

Mate if you stick it on ebay it will find it's own value!!! :D
It depends upon the condition for the value, but be honest in the listing or when someone turns up to collect and pay for it they will say you have mis-represented it and not pay up!!! :(

This bit would put me off
but since then had sadly doubled as a vehicle to transport rubbish to the local tip
Why do you want to sell it anyway??

I would say presentation is everything. If you have used her for rubbish hauling, a reall really good clean up is essential. If you have to, strip out the carpet and sell as an unfinished project, better that than a filthy shed! Wash the outside, and put some wheel silver on the wheels, you'd be suprised what a difference it will make. Take a look at ebay, and see what simular models are going for, if there isn't anything remotely like it, gestimate. The good news is she has 12 months MOT, the bad news is time is running out for buying a camper to be ready for the summer. Just my twopenneth.
