Throttle cable capers

Hi,another problem with my mk2 1980 diesel camper.....
This time the throttle cable has gone,ordered one from my local motor factor,looked the same so took off the nackered one and started to fit the new one only to find its half inch sort at the pedal end.motor factor only lists this one cable,and so far havent been able to track another one down.
Any one know of the part number for the longer cable? or perhaps a supplier?
Or will i be reduced to using a bit of string tied to my foot.
