hi first post on here good to be with fellow transit lovers my first question is my tranny it has a four speed box and is a pinto engine and is on an [A PLATE]i have had it two yrs now and have been all over the place in her but is it only my van that has steering that is a bit vague.? i tend to be turning the wheel all the time to keep straight i spoke to my local garage and he said theres not much play to worry about it's a tranny thing he said is he right?my mpg is about 20 ish depending how heavy my foot is. also i need to find a square surround for my headlight it fell off but try as i have i cannot get one any ideas?thanks in advance andy ..

Hi Andy, glad you have joined us. Our mk1 camper steering is the same. So your not alone, think they are all like this. As to the rest can't help I'm afraid.

Welcome, Andy. Yup, Mk2 steering can be a bit vague, try adjusting the steering box, but it may just make the steering heavy and vague!! All part of the Mk2 experience. As to the MPG, it all depends on what you have on board. We run a Mk2 LWB commercially and loaded with a not too heavy right foot (60-70 on the motorway) can get around 220 miles out of a full tank. So yours does sound a bit low, what carb have you got?

hi thanks for the info. my carb on the van is i think a vv by the way it does run ok very reliable and uses no water at all or oil bein an a plater it has all the niggly bad habits like we were down chedder last weekend and drove there straight from swansea on route one indicator decided not to live for the night ha . i filled the tank up in swansea and when we got there i filled it up again and it took 25 squid so not too bad eh?take into account we save money on site fees bein able to park up for the night in chedder it works out ok i must go now my eyes are telling me go to bed you fool chat soon andy...
