Anything worth having on this Mk2 - PICS

Don't look if the sight of very knackered Mk2's makes you cry...




This Mk2 is an ex school minibus, it's been sat in the field now for well over 10 years and had most of the useful bits nicked off it or they have rusted away. The glass has all been shot out and the back is full of scrap ready to weigh the whole thing in.

Is there anything worth salvaging before it goes to the knackers yard?


Front grille? O/s Indicator?


Rad look ok, engine has been scavanged




Seats are all ripped and rotten, dash is trashed, all the fuses have been had, even the gearknob is missing!


Still glass in the back doors!



Wheels, fuelcap? Roof panel isn't rusty from memory but has one big dent at the back that looks like it would just pop back out.


Any little bits that are of use to people? It's on my Dad's land, but he lives 170 miles away, so any specific questions that I can't answer from memory will have to wait till i'm next there. I don't think he's going to scrap it imminently.

Oh and there's a Mk2 Cortina in similar state sat in front of it if anyone is a general Ford fanatic..

steering column and box - usefull for the firevan rhd conversions
depending on the gear you have to remove it - rear axle
front bumper end caps - easy to take off and mot failure if there missing
front panel??? - looks ok in the photos but i guess its shot

whats the panel under the screen like cant tell from the pics

i'd bet the box would be ok but they arnt that valuable as most people convert to an mt75 - rear axles are unique to mk1/2s but being a bus it might be a 4.44 or 4.1

i wouldnt mind the drivers door seal - if its any good - also all the grommets that blank the holes in the inner winds and front panel, sills etc. as a load of mine are missing

where is the van located/planted i could do with most of the roof panel as mine has a 3 ton pop top and i hate it.

Van is on the Wirral, Merseyside. The old man doesn't accept visitors though, hence the 12 bore marks

Basically, my dad will just scrap it as he's not really bothered about a few extra quid here or there and doesn't like people around the farm, however i'm more of a vehicle conservationist and entrepreneur and reckon if you can keep some more classic vehicles on the road and make a small bit of beer money at the same time then you're on to a winner, he won't mind me spending 10 minutes with a grinder, but he doesn't like strangers knocking about with power tools, not for the sake of £50 here and there anyway!

I'm more of a Landrover nerd myself so I understand what it's like to desperately need bits that other people just send to the blast furnace without a thought. Economical second hand spares are the difference between another years MOT and the scrap yard.

So any major bits, we can work out a fair price to cover the time & effort of getting out the grinder / gas axe and removing them.

I'll be back down there in a few weeks so get your orders in before then!

Is the cab mat any good? I wonder why it has an SVO plate. The windoe winder handles are worth hanging on to.

It was a school minibus (my old school actually!) AFAIK it was our school minibus from new, but may not have been.
