Simple problem I would have thought but how to keep them from flopping down... any ideas?

Its a plastic shaft in split tube either end so I'm thinking there must be a way of increasing the resistance. I've replaced one and had the same thing happen but yep velcro was an idea I had too tho concerns that it might rip the roof liner down.

Oh right, INTERIOR sun visor  . I thought you meant one fitted to the outside. Yup, we have used heavy duty velcro but it's a bit messy. Once my passenger took the visor apart on the way to Paris, and then left it in bits!!! I had to just replace it in the end. I reckon you could just replace that split tube bit, but havn't tried it cos we have a bit of a stockpile waiting to be fitted. It's annoying they are handed, cos the passenger side never seems to waer as much. You can fit them the wrong way round, but the colours don't match.

This is gona sound really silly, so before you all laugh....

Spray a little WD40(yes I did say that) onto it, then work it for about 5mins up and down, then leave it over night... the WD40 will make the plastic(nylon actually) swell, and so give it better grip in the end...

It used to be used all the time on Nylon Bushes for 'track controll arms', made them easy to slip into place but after a few hours they went absolutely solid :D

If that fails then its definately knackered :(

There would be nothing to drill into!

Yup, that would be a good idea if the visor was made of wood, unfortunately they are made of foam!

Im guessing they're the same as mkII visors (more than likely not) and the end peices that im talking about can be pushed into the visor further then
you just drill another hole put the screw back in and they're tight

I thought you were talking about the hole in the visor that the mounting (where your finger is) peg fits into. There is a tube inside the foam it fits into, how would putting a screw into the visor help? Sorry don't get it. :?

Yo fred

The idea is to move the black mounting spigot closer to the visor. Where 'the finger' is pointing there is a gap between end of visior and spigot. This would no longer be there. In affect causing more of the shaft in the hole (this is getting R rated!) Screw goes back in but in a different position on the bodywork of the roof.
