Bit more work on the water hoses.

The bottom hose needs a Tee fitting into it to connect up to the bottom of the expansion tank, we are using one of these;

It is a Bypass hose adapter from a 1.8 Diesel Escort, Ford part number 89FF 9N271AA. This part is still available from Fords although I know the part number has changed :?: . If you wish to find a pre-used one, it is fitted to the front of the 1.8 diesel Escort block, behind the injection pump.

Start by cutting off the securing 'legs';
Image

Then cut the di bottom hose and fit the water outlet as below;
Image

When we made the heater hoses, we cut off part of the heater 'leg' that connects to the hose that runs from the bottom of the expansion tank, recover the rest of that hose;
Image

Cut this on the line we have marked;

Your hose should look like this;

Now fit the part we have cut off to the bottom of your expansion tank;

You can see the take off fitted in the bottom hose, these pipes need to be connected, we will deal with that later.

Somehow, I think I must have watched too much Blue Peter as a child :lol:

While making the last post, a new water pump turned up;

This is the correct one with the outlet for the bypass hose that goes to the base of the thermostat housing.
As you can see, a good 'brand' and a worthwhile investment for any of you running these old engines.
It would appear that my supplier is keen to dispose of these as they are considered 'out of date stock', I am able to supply forum members these at £47 each plus delivery.

Lads, whatever you choose to call it, it will put a smile on your face.

It is nearly 25 years since I heard one of these babies fire up

We used them at the vehicle manufacturer I used to work for, together with the C3 box.

My Capri engine was brand new, came home bit at a time in my lunch box, bit like that country and western song :lol: :lol: :lol:
