Hi lads, sorry I have been a bit quiet on this for a while. As things now stand;

We have had the first 'prototype' back from the cnc shop, as expected, there were a couple of holes that needed moving slightly, the limitations of the measuring process.
However, there was a serious omission on my part, I neglected to include the starter motor 'hole' in the drawing :oops:

Prototype number 2 is being collected tomorrow, this WILL have a starter hole, I have now included it in tne cad file :!:

Photos tomorrow lads 8)

Right then lads, the first public viewing of the prototype;

It's wonderful what water can do!
Still some more work to be done, but it is so rewarding to see the product of all the effort 'in the flesh' :D

I'll get the Essex engine out later this week and offer it up, picture to be posted.

That looks really good.

The firm I used to work for went "shopping" for a profiler at the NEC show many many years ago. I tried to persuade them to buy a water jet instead of a laser, having worked with a laser machine for many years prior in another job. They insisted on buying a laser machine which wasn't a particularly good model at that. We had so much trouble with one particular job, we ended up out shopping it to another company locally who used a water jet. My boss was so impressed, we sent all our heavy work there in the end and the laser was used less and less until he sold the useless piece of junk.

Well done on your achievement.

Thanks for the positive mate.

I spent a lot of time, evenings and weekends, teaching myself to create cad files, I was so excited when I picked up the first version, although I had not included the started hole in the drawing, so that one was scrap :lol:

The chap at the water jet cutters was so helpful, offering advice on production methods etc, so pleased that I chose them for the project. They will be producing the engine mounting plates etc for all our conversion work from now on.

I went to two laser cutting firms first, neither were interested, one would not even tell me the file format required for the cad drawing, perhaps they didn't think that I was serious about the project, their loss.

Now we have a cad file for the di bell housing, we can 'superimpose' this on other drawings to produce adapter plates for other engine fitments.

Watch out, you never know what is around the corner :lol:

Cheers Luke.

The adapter is on a V6 at the moment, it must have been an auto originally.

I have sourced a supply of spigot bearings that fit the crank and the 'nose' of the Mt75. I am assuming the the rear of the crank is the same on V6 and V4, so just a spigot swap to fit the MT75.

Think that will have to be Montym100, for all his help in identifying the additional stuff for V4 applications, provided he is still up for it :D

Any other 'Guinea Pigs'?

Looks like you will be the V4 'guinea pig' mate :lol:

Flywheel and starter will be stock parts, the ones you have at the moment.

Have you got a spare V4 flywheel on the floor mate? If so, could you provide measurement between two opposite holes where the clutch cover bolts to your flywheel?
The center plate will have to be changed as the gearbox splines are different, looks like Pinto/Mt75 Transit for the V6 flywheel and DOHC/Mt75 Sierra for the V4 flywheel, to be confirmed!

Should have another plate done for next week, just been busy at work and with the 'mini makeover' this coming weekend.
