ah right I am with you, I misunderstood, thought you meant bond it in on it's own without the seal, like the later vans, that's why I though it would look cr*p!

I believe caravan places use stuff called "creeping crack cure" which you dribble under the rubber to seal it

Hello Luke
I only did my screen a few weeks ago. First time a few years ago I bought a repro Mk 2 seal and that was too short across the top. It did go in and I sealed it up as well but the ears slowly unstuck and started to stick up.
This time I bought a Mk1 seal. This would be ok (or so I thought) but was a complete waste of time as well. I struggled with this for hours and ended up tearing part of the lip off. It looked like it was 2 pieces stuck together but I'm not sure.
Out of desperation I got the old original and spent hours cleaning all the sealer off and used that. It went in in 5 minutes. I haven't been round with the sealer yet but have some 3M stuff that ought to be ok. I can only hope this seals up ok as I can't afford to spend another £60 on another new one.

I had a screen fitted on my Mini by some pros who said it wouldn't need sealant. It leaked like nobodies buisiness so I sealed it up with sealer and it has been fine since.

ah ha a thread for me lol, to be honest mk1's and 2's are prone to leak i would fit the screen if it dosent leak all good (but they normally do).

if it does then i suggest using arbomast windscreen sealer this is what i would use between the glass and rubber esp at the bottom corners,

and between the body and rubber hope this helps and do not use a toughned windscreen please.

The Mk2 I have outside my house had a new laminated screen fitted as the original was toughened, the seal leaked for months quite badly and we kept having to sok up the water every day it rained, but one day it just stopped :o Through all the rain we have had recently it is still bone dry  :D
