I reckon 50mm box would be better to be honest......

I am gonna have a go at doing a driveway repair to get her back... or try and borrow a low-loader from somewhere

a frame.......

Postby rottie_007 » Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:19 pm

true an A frame is ok, but with box steering i have found the massive lock available can make the a-frame not do as its told... had an a60 on one once that went to full lock under a tight manouvre... never again...

ill figure something out...
my local shop has wheel cylinders for a tenner a piece
but wants 20 a shoe to reline them? am I right in thinking its twin cylinders at the back as well as the front?

the shoes you'll find on ebay (they come up fairly regular) not much help i know if you need them quick, as for the uj's i cant help i am affraid, unless a mk2 prop from a 2.4d lwb minibus will fit (it needs the centre bearing doing i think (about £30 for all three parts of the bearing) but i cant say 100% about the uj's as there was a lot of noise coming from the diff :D

ive been and now need to decide...

Postby rottie_007 » Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:41 pm

conversion is by a company called wilson
it has clean front wings... chassis is perfect... doors are a bit ropey round the side trims (borders on blue bit) it smells damp inside, its got no coolant in the running v4 engine, 6 good tyres, absolutely crap bonnet, no brake pedal so no doubt its all dry and has been since he bought it in january.... e reg...

front discs !!!
shes only about 12 foot long
headlamp bezels and tops of wings look good, steps are there but i dont know how much longer the passenger one will be, did i mention the awful bonnet ??? .... started on three for about a second then went onto four...
oil is spotless...
decisions decisions
whats a camper worth these days???
3 piece prop with no discernable pay in it, although the diff feels as loose as a nuns habit (twistin the prop back an forth about 1/4 of a turn)
rear step has been shunted in where h let it roll into his house which has affected how the back door closes... rear lights look like VW lt ones mounted upright like mk1 tranny ones.. (lights in roof as well red only though)
looks like suspension shock absorber mount on o/s has either been coated with fibreglass or welded and plastered with seam sealer.... wasnt prepared to dig it out with him watching....
step bits under the doors are a bit mishappen like they was folded using a hammer and a block of wood but I know these are availalbe anyways...

he told me it

Postby rottie_007 » Sun Nov 20, 2005 5:08 pm

he told me it needed a uj doing..
an yeah shes got discs......

lack of coolant is a mystery...
and one that puts me off a bit to be honest
although the rad looked like it had white fluff in it...
the oil was spotless s owould be surprised if it had gone the oil-route
the underside looked like it had been regularly oiled...
probably by the gearbox or diff....

im in two minds about whether to or not...
