wheel cylinder clips

ok, sorted the lockheed ones were better, grooves deeper and cleaner cut, clips were fiddley as hell ... but eventually went on (as you said Nighthawk, help was much appreciated thx)

i still wanna know how your supposed to do that on the vehicle :lol:

Glad you sorted it.

On the vehicle you have to try and wedge your head between the chassis rail and the spring while you hold 2 screw drivers with your knee on the wheel cylcinder.

I prefer doing it with thebacplate on the bench though :D

yeah, you could hold the whole lot in a vice that way :P

it has got to be one of the most stupid designs i have EVER seen, i think i might still pick up some spare wheel cylinders sometime and thread the outside of the brake pipe fitting turret, that way i wont have to f**k around like that again :P (something else i have to take into account is i am not having rigid pipes back there as the whole back axle is being done with aeroquip hosing except the rubber link to the vehicle)

You should try going one on a sunday morning as a moneymaker and you find out that the little locating dowel has been put slightly out of place :twisted: :twisted: having to open up the holes in the backplate or redrill the pin is a right PITA.

Still, it was fun while we used them, but the upgrade to bolted cylinders in 8/91 was a much better idea :D
