Windscreen rubber fitting Mk1

When our Transit screen got shattered by a beer can thrown out of a truck we had a spare old screen and used the old rubber. Went in a piece of cake. Using the string and soap method.

The guys that fitted my taxi screen said exactly the same thing.Thats a flat screen and a solid rubber,I tried refitting the original ( I cut the old rubber to get it out) and was amazed at how fragile it was.

we did start at the bottom, then sides but the top middle
inside bit (with chord) just wouldn't rollover the inner lip

just take your time, and give it pletty of slapps ,it will go in !

Now fitted, we started at the top this time and it took 20 mins,
we think we were just flexing the roof when we started at the bottom
and finished at the top.
During the operation a wiper blade connector( to the arm) was damaged) now I'm on the hunt for a wide 8mm fitting blade 20 " long

do the stainless ones from Tex fit?

chrome very expensive black ones are not so bad and can be bourt for around £5-£10 chrome is around £40 -£50 a pair!

Sorry to go off-topic a bit here - but I'm also looking for a new pair of chrome wiper arms and blades.

I sent Tex one of my original black arms and blades and asked if they could supply a chrome pair the same as the black ones...unfortunately, they couldn't help and sent my old one back again

Think the Transit ones are slightly wider than they stock / make as well as the arms and blades being slightly longer.

I don't want to put my faded black ones back on if I can help it so is there another supplier out there who could help us?

Following madmark's advice, I had a go at polishing up my old manky looking black wiper arms yesterday....

I was amazed at how well they came up.

I used a polishing mop attached to a drill and both arms came up properly shiny after a good 30mins of cutting / polishing.

I didn't take any before pictures, but I'll post up an after picture this evening.
