 you should know :!: i thought you knew your mk1 and mk2 :!: theres loads of brazing on them, for example, where the floor pan meets the step and front inner wing, the dash to the A pillar to name a couple

On that age of Fords they may also braze the window frame where it joins the roof and a couple of other places around the roof gutter.

I just Tig them these days, it must of been years since i've brazed.. does anyone braze anymore?

ive noticed the braizing when ive been cutting out, i fort it may have been from a past repair didnt realise ford did it, so the majority of the whole motor was spot welded, ive been plug welding quite alot, but been quite ecessive with it maybe a plug every 50mm or so. any repair area's to the floor etc ive been seam welding,

anyone think i may have mot issues? as underneath the steps etc i havent welded yet (where the step joins the sill) i was gonna stitch these but i know mot testers now like to see a continual seam!

The step joins the sill.... thats spot welds originaly, isnt it?......

But if its hard to spot weld then you should really mig weld 100%. But i havent as i think thats too much weld for such a small area and i stich welded it... That maybe what you call seam weld?

Weld for an inch, leave a gap of an inch, weld for an inch again.

I then ground the weld down and put some Filler/seam sealer over it before spraying it.

Mine looks flush and it'll never fail.

Im sure yours will be fine..

i think originally yeah they were spot welded, my weld on top is now complete, im talking about if ur looking at the step from underneath the truck, where the step meets the inner seal, or does it just have to be welded in one place?? ie top or bottom.

Maybe if i take a pic to help people understand

I think i know where you mean.

Lets go through this... I always thought the outer sill runs from the back wheels to the front wheels and the step ends where it meets the outer sill by the door gap... and the outer sill joins the inner sill underneath originaly with spot welds on the lips.

Then the inner sill joins the underneath of the door step... which would be a pain to do by spotwelds.

I think i just welded mine, by there.. with a Mig 100% weld, ground it down with a flap disk then painted.

mines a cab chassis , i spose we could detemine it by the outer sill beig the one you can see from outside and the inner sill being the one you can see from getin under neath and having a look.

you definately cant spot weld the inner sill, it will have to be seam welded, i just didnt understand if it needed to be welded underneath but i may as well weld every physical bit i can see that can be welded, that way it cant be wrong, maybe just a bit more time consuming
