Just because it has a 5 speed in it does not mean it was made that way. I was a ford Commercial technician from 1979 to 1986 and can tell you for sure that there were NO mk2 transits manufactured with a 5 speed box FACT. You dont seem to have read the original post properly, he was asking if there was a 5 speed made for the mk2. there was not. BUT you can retro-fit a type 9 or MT75. Does that spell it out for you or do you need to have extra lessons in understanding the english language  The ebay no you quote is for a 2.0 PETROL engine RETRO-FITTED with a type 9 box OK

i dont think there is any need there's only 1 member in 13 thousand who thinks mk2's had a factory 5 speed

but what about a thread for identifying which box is which and pictures - so people know what box they have that would be a good idea   :D

type 9 box first appeared in the mk3 generation as a van gearbox with a side mounted van gearstick and different gear clusters from the car variant, if you want to put it in a mk2 as a replacement to a 4 speed type g then its an easy swapover, box, x member, stick, speedo cable, and uses the same prop. :)

and hers another one for you, overdrive boxes fitted to ambulances had stronger planetry gears in the overdrive unit made specifically for the extra thrash of the v6 essex engines!! :)

Its possible for an Ambulance to be fitted with the Ford C4 box, or even a Borg Warner when ford boxes were in short supply. Not all ambulances were auto. Does your box have the data plate still on it?
