I guess the risk in having them made is that you might get the money back eventually. Its a good job Ford had a few too many panels made or nothing would be available now !
I hate to admit it but I am not a member of the club so I hadn't actually seen the advert. I had only just re-joined a car club when I found out about the Transit owners club and wasn't allowed to join another one !
If you ever get some made I would be interested in having 1, maybee 2. The one I bought cost so much I don't think I could ever have the bottle to weld it on, I might just put it in a display case !

as a club members point of view how can this sort of stuff be funded, its not as if the club has £££££££ in the bank, to have panels and things made :? ,i am shure we mk1 owners would love to find a company that would make us some front wings etc but this sort of thing would cost far to much!
so the idea is for people to help other members out as much as they can and also the £10 membership goes to organiseing events and cheaper entry and goody bags and things you get given and also the club magazine etc etc!
i wouldnt want all that hard work running the club and i think pete does a fantastic job!
i know that i well had my £10 worth last year at the 40th event!the transit book alone was worth it! :) and it was a event i will never forget!

hangers

Postby sparesman » Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:22 pm

Its obvious we cant get somethings remade but some smaller items can be such as the hangers which are a common mot failure.Iwould have been willing to fund the the cost but no comments or feedback was recieved from the notice in the club mag. With regards to the quantities made it could be less but the cost goes up at 50 each hanger would have to recover £50 this isnt to bad when you consider a repo mk3 one is £40.I was talking about the apathy of club members so dont bring peter in to it he does a sterling job but as with all clubs ther are do,ers and those who do nothing until they want something.

hangers

you may well be able to adapt a mk3,but the whole thing is a different style plus it dosnt have the lug for engine cross member. Is it worth all the work of trial and error.

Spring hangers

Postby Terry » Thu Apr 13, 2006 7:50 pm

Sparesman,
You may find the lack of response to your offer of paying to have Mk 2 spring hangers manufactured , might have been due to the low number of Mk 2 owners, I have a Mk 6 (Mk 4 to Fred), so they would be of no interest to me. Perhaps as a member of 1 week, the 'quick to condemn' is a little premature.
I got a little black book with me poems in

I have been a member the club since it started. My offer was for mk1&mk2 hangers plus some other parts to be remanufactured. I have had some parts already remade in quantity at my own expence.Im prepared to do things not like some. I have been watching the forum for sometime but only decided to join recently.
