Look at what’s been released so far regarding emmision levels for forthcoming Mot.
Now with VHI exempt,without VHI no exemption.
So no VHI no emmision exemption on MOT(you have to MOT b4 tax remember),
So if you believe the engine in your van will go through a non exempt emmision test crack on without a VHI.

so when your vehicle becomes exempt the government wont be removeing it from the database ??? if they do how can you process a ticket

dvla does the paperwork ,, issues the mot via the computer in the test station from the database but if your exempt will you still be on the database to be able to have a ticket issued

Here in Spain the system worked out that all the historic (your VHI) classification changes are the words “emmision exempt” on the Spanish form that’s like logbook for van that issued by the mot garage after 1st test(the inspection from their chosen clever guy telling you what you’ve got).
So here it works that it’s all just emmision levels set by the EU dictorate,historic bypasses this,Ive still gotta ITV (mot ) every 4 years here,uk won’t be compulsory.Systems here’s going to be way more complicated than back there will ever be,but end result how there going to make it complicated come May is pretty lightly to be how it’s made complicated in the EU no?
One way your going to be worse is the 40 yr touch for VHI,it’s 30 here when it’s 25 years to be classic,how that gap going to work?

A vehicle that has been substantially changed within the previous 30 years will have to be submitted for annual MoT testing. Whether a substantially changed vehicle requires re-registration is a separate process.
Keepers of VHIs exempt from periodic testing continue to be responsible for their vehicle’s roadworthiness. Keepers of vehicles over 40 years old can voluntarily submit vehicles for testing.
Keepers of VHIs claiming an exemption from the MoT test should make a declaration when renewing their vehicle tax. The responsibility to ensure the declared vehicle is a VHI and meets the criteria, rests with the vehicle keeper as part of their due diligence. If a vehicle keeper is not sure of the status of a vehicle, they can consult a marque or historic vehicles expert, a list of whom will be available on the website of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.

That’s a quote from what been released by the Gov,not what I’m saying.
Can you currently take a pre 60 vehicle for an Mot,or do you get turned away at test centre?
