locking fuel pump on mk2

hi,

im replacing the timing belt on a mk2 diesel, i cant see how to lock up the fuel pump......any suggestions would be greatly received

You will need a diesel lock pin kit, you have to put 1 pin through a hole at the back of the block on offside to lock the crank, 1 pin through the cam pully to lock the cam and a pin through the pump pully to lock the pump,
when you manage to get 1 of these pins lined up the others should both line up.

If your a northerner, you might find using drill bits (like i did) cheaper than buying a kit!!! :lol:

and also make sure you have removed them all before trying to run it!!! :lol: :oops: :lol:

home made locking pins

I wasa mechanic for 13 years and found a cheap set of long 1/4 drive sockets would pretty much emcompass the full ratio of locking pins on most engines....

and having the wide base they locked nicely into place
