Postby tuscan440 » Wed Aug 10, 2005 6:54 pm

just thought i wopuld post this pic of me being done by the pigs when the wheel fell off back in may. haven't got the arch picture yet but will get that soon off my mate.

the b*stard police took me to court for having invalid insurance and although i had a valid excuse and even CIS insurers behind me they still gave me 6 points and a £105 fine. ah the price of owning a transit eh!!

basically it was 3 day insurance that i get free every year and there was a misunderstanding between myself and my dad about when it started, because i left it so late to get it i didn't have the insurance certificate before i left for that trip, so i was unaware the insurance didnt start till 24 hours later than it was meant too.so i carried on, wheel fell off blah blah, so anyways was given a producer and when i got back from festival was gutted to see insurance had started too late to be valid, was summoned to court, but got proof from CIS that insurance was booked 3 days before incident, had tax MOT the lot, no previous convictions and had every intention of driving with insurance, even had a couple character references, but they just ignored the whole lot as a simple mistake, even tho there were no claims or anything, and gave me the fines. was expecting the money fine but 6 points, i think it was damn harsh, and im thinkin of appealing. or burning down the court house, which ever is easier!!
it may sound stupid but because im insured under my dads name he had to book it and he got the wrong day, i thought i was insured but i wasnt, bloomin gutted i can tell you. and i can tell you now ive never had such a ribbing from my mates as i am getting now!!

That's a really painful picture, and I am sorry about the points, I think you should appeal.

I know how you feel mate i got stopped driving home after work (when i was a minicab driver 10 years back) 100 yards from me house at 10 to midnight, the copper wrote the producer out at 10 past midnight after checking the car engine number ect (i had a cortina with a full janspeed,K&N ect) cos he thought i was a boy racer with an illegal engine cos the boot badge said 1.6 and it was a 2.0.
Got 6 points because me insurance ran out at Midnight! (mini cab insurance was monthly from 00.00 to 00.00 30 days later) cos i worked the evening shift from 2pm till 11 PM
I worked 1/2 a mile away and would have been home by midnight no problem if the fecker hadn't pulled me and kept me hanging aroun for 20 bloody minuits
after that me insurance went up fom £50 to £150 A MONTH!
A year later i was sitting in a traffic jam (hadn't moved for 10 odd mins)and the punter wanted to get out and walk the remaining 200 yards to the train station(where i was taking her to) she paid me got out whilst i had still not moved in the traffic and a traffic copper on a bike comes up beside me (on the outside of the traffic queue, tells me to pull onto the pavement and does me for stopping on a zebra crossing (technicly as the door was opened i was parked and i was sitting in the zig zag area leading from the crossing) 3 more points and a new job for me
most are ok but the traffic lot are a whole differnt kettle of fish

if you want to appeal against a driving conviction you only get 7 or so days to do it.seek legal advice first and get solicitor to lodge the appeal for you.it looks better.i know i got a ban for totting up on my licence so i got time to spend modifieing my tranny now only got till october now then on the road.got my ban from dangerouse driving with intent to ram a police officer off the road with my tranny,i was on a narrow road with a trailer going slowly round a bend when police come round bend on my side of the road the they try to say i was in the wrong :x :x :x i was not very happy

hearing your stories tho i'll agree the traffic cops seem to be the biggest bunch of tossers out there

Somewhile ago I was parked for the evening near Gt Yarmouth sea front.(On a scrubby old bit of land thats no use to anyone).A trumped up twerp from the local council banged on the window and insisted on giving me a letter telling me that if I was still there in the morning I be summonsed by the council and fined.I pointed out my van was taxed and insured,I was just a foot from the kerb and I was patently doing no one any harm. This silly little man insisted on leaving his letter behind and I like loads of other people decided Gt Yarmouth can do without any further visits from us.Some months ago about fifty untaxed travellers vans and trailers moved onto another bit of land a hundred yards further down the road.Despite the councils previous actions (I bet that silly twerp didn't give THEM any letters) they were there well over a week. When they went they left tonnes of junk, lots of poo and used loo paper and shop keepers with loads of stock missing. How many got summonsed, how much fines did they pay?.Zilch. So the systems unfair, some police like some council officers are unfair.Personally I've had no problems with the Old Bill although one gave me heart failure a week or so back when he pulled me up to tell me his dad had a camper like mine years ago!. Mark,Luke, my apologies in advance if you think this isn't probably the best section on the forum for this post, perhaps it should have been on transit talk.

I agree with your sentiments on the pigs. they have no interest in listening to reason, they just want the money. The best thing to do is appeal, most of the time the courts just can't be bothered to fight it and if they know you mean business have been known to drop the case.
