We have a 351 in our stretch, but there is a lot more room in a Mk2!

:D :D :D i've sussed the slow speed issue belive it or not  it's been governd by using an limiter on the ignition side of things i fitted a rev clock would not rev underload past 3k ie top gear 50 55 mph did a little hot wire job cut out the eleci ignition now pulls like a train  70 mh nooo problem So boys and girls has this thing been fitted cos of the "drives like a bungalow on ice " and at 70 mph you could wipe you and half the m6 out me wonders :?: :?: :?: andy

I take it this isn't an original addition? Can't see a limiter being a Mk1 thing, mostly brute force and ignorance in the 70s...........

Your problem could be just that the electronic ignition unit has developed a fault years ago i had the same problem with a triumph bonneville fited with electronic ignition changed the amplifyer and the prob was solved :D

yo

Had the good fortune to look at a Mk1 on the weekend that had a 350ci under the bonnet/hood. It looked surprising small but that is because it was sitting pretty low. Oh... the 350 ci is a 302 that had been stroked. 100k's (60mph) in 1st, 160k's (100mph) in 2nd. Been blue printed etc and redlined at 7200. Never thought to get a photo... next time.
