i kown everything is possible with a gas axe and large grinder and a mig but its a big BUT has anyone put this ford yank v8 into a tranny before ??? with or without transmision andy
i was thinking about this engine cos of the price of a re build the parts on a 302 are half as much as an essex weight wise id have thought the diffrence woudnt be that much woukld it ????????? andy
its not that it needs a rebuild its just bloody slow 60 mph on the flat 40mph on a hill mind you pullin around 2 ton ish it dont do bad the way i was thinkin was v8 302 built for torque i wouldnt need to rev the tits of it to move it as yanks say theres no substitute for cubic inches saying tha ive just read a add in a certain mag and in there theres a twin turbo cossie 2.9 auto going cheap {£600 ono } not to far away neither ahh decisions decisions
mate what carb is on your engine????? it should pull better than that ! i had a camper along wile ago with a v6 that i fitted and it was a twin wheeler similer size to yours and it went like a bomb!
the carbs a 40dfav the gearing is 4 speed overdrive 4. 1.1 rear diff ratio im lookin for a 38 d gas cheaked the tapets this afternoon the ex valves were a little on the tight side so re set all inlets to 13 thou exh to 22thou runs ok but still 55 60 on the flat its begining to #iss me off any ideas andy
i've sussed the slow speed issue belive it or not it's been governd by using an limiter on the ignition side of things i fitted a rev clock would not rev underload past 3k ie top gear 50 55 mph did a little hot wire job cut out the eleci ignition now pulls like a train 70 mh nooo problem So boys and girls has this thing been fitted cos of the "drives like a bungalow on ice " and at 70 mph you could wipe you and half the m6 out me wonders andy
Your problem could be just that the electronic ignition unit has developed a fault years ago i had the same problem with a triumph bonneville fited with electronic ignition changed the amplifyer and the prob was solved
took off the elec ignition this morning pulled it apart inside guess wot i found inside a dial to set the revs !!!!!!! and yes its set at 3500 rpm it does go to 8 k tho but i dont trust it ill leave it the conventinal points set up less hassle update took it to a local motor factors who tests ignitions says its ok but i think ill ebay it any way LOL andy
i have noticed that the eletronic ign that came with my engine has a limiter fitted ,but dont know what its set at and dont want to touch it incase it goes wrong! the make of mine is lumignition i think!
Had the good fortune to look at a Mk1 on the weekend that had a 350ci under the bonnet/hood. It looked surprising small but that is because it was sitting pretty low. Oh... the 350 ci is a 302 that had been stroked. 100k's (60mph) in 1st, 160k's (100mph) in 2nd. Been blue printed etc and redlined at 7200. Never thought to get a photo... next time.
