Thank you for your answers. I don't think it was a petrol van converted to diesel, as it's a pain in the ass to do so here in France, thanks to our love for bureaucracy. It seems to be an original 50 000 km, one-owner diesel van. But it was stored for a long time, enough to transform the heat-fan box in a mouse nest. I believe that old muddy diesel was pumped into the fuel injection pump. The CAV diesel filter is clean, hoses seems to be clean also. I have to check the fuel tank, which is leaking, by the way, from its filling port, when the level is too high.

Hi folks. Was having a nose through and noticed a few mentions of RHD Sliding door on a MKII... Here's mine and I'm in sunny Birmingham UK!

Might have a wrong fuel cap if it can't "breathe" it will suck the tank vacuum not getting enough fuel through, als check fuel filter and fuel filter o ring.
Nice looking van btw;)

There is a vent pipe which if comes adrift from the nozel, will have you showering your shoes.get the back wheel off and jack the axle, then look where the filler pipe is,behind it is a smaller pipe which should be slid on to a metal nozzle..mine slipped off and I watered the forecourt!
