MK1 Bullnose transit - proof of age advice required

Postby angbav » Thu Jun 28, 2007 1:24 pm

Hi all, we are new to these classic van's.
we have recently purchased a MK 1 Bullnose transit motorhome Glendale 2000L . nice and spacious inside only need's some minor old damp repair, engine has been replaced with a 3ltr petrol one at some stage and seem's to run ok.
The thing is the number plate is G reg - 1969 but the british DVLA log book states 05/1973 as date of first registration (there seem's to much of a gap in years) the current MOT document says 1971?????????????.
According to the DVLA I would need to provide proof of age from the manufacturer to possibly get this old girl tax exempt, they suggested I contact the Manufacturer, so I did and Ford UK say: there computer records end at 1980 - (so I'm starting to hit my head up a brick wall) does anyone have any experiance of this and do you know where I could obtain such information.

Welcome to the forum, maybe this is best put in the Mk1 section (please Luke?). I can't see how you have a V5 with a G reg that states first registered as new in 1973, UNLESS the G reg is a private plate. I would think the V5 would say this if the van had a number plate transfer (done legally). Instructions on how to post photots are at the top of the gallery. Basically open a photobucket account and upload the pics from your computer, then copy the bottom code under the pic and paste it into your post. Please for your own security don't post a pic of your whole VIN plate, or the number. Feel free to PM them to me or Geoff and I am sure we can sort this out.

The DVLA have asked us to provide proof of the vehicle's age, so we will need to obtain written proof: ie from FORD or a registered club

Wouldn't it have the two coloured front blinkers if it was a '69? Could've been changed tho. I prefer the expression "snout" against bullnose :? Hugo
