mk1 window winder chattering at top of travel

Postby ventadorn » Sun Oct 28, 2018 12:45 pm

Hi I have a 74 mk1 diesel pickup, the window winders work ok until the window gets nearly to the top, then they struggle and chatter and fail to lift the window right up. I have to help push the window up by hand but this won't of course work when I have refitted the door cards. Any cure for this?
Looking for a few bits to complete the cab, dash top, grab handle, headlining, sun visors, interior light, cancelling cam for steering column if anyone has anything. Also anyone know which window channel profile fits the side windows? Bet Woolies do something but not sure which to order
cheers

Have a look at the gear quadrant you may have stripped a tooth or two if not try slackening off everything pushing the widow up and tightening everything up

Thanks for that tip will try that when the rain eases off a bit. If the quadrant has damaged teeth maybe could rebuild with weld and file to shape.

I have most of the parts on your list, new & used. I also have window winding cables if yours is worn.
