Restoration of my old Mk1 (Sweden) - BC05HS86105

Postby Ronnie_B » Tue Jan 01, 2019 11:47 pm

Hi, I just got my Transit at home.
My parents bought it in February 1979 and used it until October 1981 when it didn't pass the yearly inspection.

In Sweden we can modify cars and limit them to 30 km/h, then they can be registered as tractor and you can drive it when you are 16. The idea was to modify this that way, but it never became ready before both me and my brother turned 18 and got our car licenses.

In January 1990, I bought it from my parents with an idea to either finish the modification work or restore it to it's original condition. Since then it's been standing in my parents place, behind their barn. Until now. :D
Now I will restore it into original condition and drive it on cruicings if the weather isn't good enough for my roof less Hot Rod.

I've spent days searching on the Internet for all kinds of information regarding this car, but it's very limited facts/information I have found.

It's a 1969 Ford Transit 1750 (1750 is the model in Sweden, I have no clue what is the real Ford name.)
The motor is a Perkins 108-4, 53hk / 39kW.

The VIN is BC05HS86105. I have searched for VIN decoders but I can't find any facts how to decode this one. I hope someone in here can help me.

My starter is gone so I need to find a replacement.
When searching the Web it seems like the 1.7 liter Perkins 108-4 was not so common?
Anyone who knows if there are other models that has the same starter?

Thanks again for the reply, I think the engine is OK so I just need the starter. :-)

In Sweden this Transit model was named Transit 1750, but when I look for parts it's obvious the name was only used in Sweden since I only find names such as 130, 150 and 175.
On some spare part shops I also find names such as 71E, 72E, 73E, 74E and 81E.
How can I tell what model I have?
