What brakes do I have

Postby Shed_Transit » Tue Mar 19, 2019 9:38 am

Hi all,

I have an ex-Malta Mk1 twin wheel bullnose and trying to find out what brake calipers / master cylinder and servo I have, can anyone identify what I have fitted (not sure whether it's Mk1, I've been told it's mk2 kit) I need to sort either a rebuild or new calipers / master cylinder - so any advice on parts suppliers would be great.

4 pot calipers with solid discs obviously, and that servo looks small like Neil said! AP/Lockheed master cylinder, and there are many different bore sizes available for this, so best bet is to remove and measure before ordering a new one. From memory I think the 4 pot calipers all shared the same piston size, 41mm ????? The brake discs are the same as any other Transit with solid discs, ie. all Mk2's.

Thanks Guys, as the calipers are knackered I'm up for a replacement what would you recommend as a straight forward bolt om replacement? I've read on here that LDV convoy calipers fit? What year - as I have a late 02 or 03 scrapper in which I removed the duratorq to install in this mk1. What master cylinder / servo would you suggest?

Many thanks for the advice!

the biggest bore for the twin wheeler think its 23 mm :?: Lockheed but some later ones had a bendix servo and cylinder either servos are hard to find new but if you find a secondhand one they can be re conditioned
