Power windows on MK2

Postby Greg L. » Sun Nov 17, 2019 8:17 am

Hello,

I'm thinking about adding power windows to my SWB MK2.
Have some of you guys fitted an aftermarket kit and how difficult is it ?

I think there was a tutorial here, but I can't find it anymore.

Thanks Luke. Do you have any link to the kit you've used ? (or any hint where I can find it)

I installed one of these. Very easy to install and working perfectly.

MK3,4 or 5 are a direct fit they even bolt up to the same holes in the door.

I haven't seen any of these with power windows so far. Universal kits are about £50 delivered, so I fear these parts will be much more expensive.

I just finished doing mine. I used a NOS set for a 4-door Audi 80 / 90:
https://oldtimer-shop.eu/product/audi-8 ... regulator/

The window motors fit on the Transit MK1 / MK2 window actuators in place of the original winder:

Just drill out the old and new ones and they fit straight on. Thjs is the part number for the window motor:
Bosch FPE 12V 0 130 821 070

If you google 0130821070 you will find a bunch of similar window actuators.

The switches and loom i got from Aliexpress:

Works like a charm, just dont forget to clean the old actuators and regrease them.

On my mk 3 I fitted a Lucus servo glade system back in the day it was a set they was off my xr3i originally as the door on the mk 3 was recessed behind the regulator I had to make a plate to fit it on it used the complete Ford winder system you just removed the handle fitted a hexagon driver onto the splines and the motor drive unit dropped over the top that had a flexible driver to the motor you fitted inside the door it was a bit of a faff Johns mk2 set up looks a better way to do it .
