V4 Essex crank

Postby Soren » Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:18 pm

Hi
Does anyone know if it is possible to use an alternative crank in a V4 Essex?

I don’t no about a alternative crank but if you come to fit new main shells make sure you get the right thickness of the backing on them as the journals in the block the are line board to different diameters we had a crank re ground and new shells suppled wrong and had a lot of play

I'm not sure what you mean by "alternative". I think it might help if you could tell what you are trying to achieve ?

Hi
That's because jrg bought a 1.7 Essex and it's obviously too small for my Transit mobile home where there is now a 2.0
I have long had a dream of injecting and electronic ignition and what else could be fun to play with so with the 1.7 I would make it for the project
So if there was / is an alternate crunch it was something to do now, so that's my question
