MK2 Pick-up

Hi all thought l would share my latest buy.Bought it from a local lad its came direct from Prestwick Airport where it was apparently used as a tank to empty the plane toilets??It is now fitted with a Di as the previous owner drove it not knowing the water had been drained for the winter.I have the original York here the miles are showing around 18,000 which going with the condition of the passenger seat and other parts I would say the miles are correct. There is a British Airways build plate riveted to the n/s step so all looks good and proper.I have bought a new body (from a 1984 Transit) which l have blasted and is ready for paint along with 2 made to measure rear steel wings from a company called Featherwing, top job and reasonably priced.I am going to repaint the cab as there are a few bits l,m not happy with.I am 95% finished a restoration on a MGB roadster so it will be flat out on the Tranny once complete.
Cheers Tommy

Wee update,I now have the body painted and refitted along with the steel wings.I gave the grille and flashers a coat of paint along with the matt black around the windscreen. As we are still in lockdown l have not managed to buy wood for the floor yet, this will be done as soon as the builders merchants reopen.I hope to get out and about sometime this year? as it is then paint the cab next winter.

Yeah well aware the parts were grey having been painting commercials for 42 years l just prefer the black having seen it previously on a MK2 lwb at a car show.I will post up photos of the engine bay although very strong with no welding it is not a pretty sight after someone has tried to tidy it up and forgot to mask/remove anything. The engine is now a Di and looks like a bear with gloves on has done the job, anyway the basis is there for it to be a tidy reliable useable runner and l can’t wait to get out in it.

grille and indicators too? I have a 1986 van, and it is all grey plastic, grille, indicators surrounds, bumper trims etc. Can you post a scan of that please? My OCD is very curious. :D

Yes, I have brochure for a very late MK2 that had all the plastic in black. I will try & find it today. Also I have an original front lip spoiler that is black originally.
