ah i took 1503957 as the identifier for a short wheel base is that not correct as i thought 1503958 identified it as a long wheel base

Unfortunately people on ebay sometimes add details that are not correct and hope to get away with it.

If you look at the label on the package in that advert, it says "Transit 100L 86-" and the part number is "86VB2A604CE" which would seem to be consistent with it being for 1986 and therefore not for a Mk1. There is no 1503957 marked on the label.

If you get it home and the cable stripped out then at the same time as measuring it and taking photos for reference, you might find that a little application of tlc, oil, grease etc might free up your old cable sufficiently to carry on using it.... Depends on whether the cable is frayed.

And you may be able to get one made up, there are people such as Cable Tec who can do it. If it is just the inner cable then I have heard that some yacht chandlers and rigging suppliers can make up stainless inner cables.

Thanks Doug for all your input.
First point is to get the van home i have looked at Motomobil and they clearly have the right one in stock and may take the plunge with them.....Even if i have to get it home and can free the old cable it would be good to have a spare.
Thanks again for all your help

Hi Ralph,

I know that you know about these things but are you sure it is for LWB ?

I had a quick look at the parts list again and that part number seems to be coming up as early SWB alongside the 1503957 number for German Mk1 SWBs and later GB Mk1 SWBs.
