kingpin interchange

Postby trevd1966 » Sun Jan 24, 2021 12:33 pm

im looking to do the kingpins on a 1971 transit, the ones on it have rubber rings top and botom, later ones dont have the rubber rings, does anyone know if later kingpins can be used (same diameter etc) as they are more readily available and a lot cheaper, i can ream bushes no problem but just wondering if i can use later kit in an earlier axle. thanks in advance.

The part numbers for both the axle and the stub axle spindle are different from 12/71 (german) or 1/72(GB) onward compared to the earlier versions. That doesn't mean to say it won't work but it does not look hopeful.

No they are not interchangeable as they are different disameter. The later ones are bigger & have a different design in the stub axle also the beam is different. I have both in stock & the earlier ones are cheaper.
