acceptable oil useage

what would you call acceptable oil useage??? on a 1972 mk1 47000miles of the clock.


Using about 0.5l every 500 miles at the moment is that about right or not???

we had a 95 2.5 di swb van 400 miles a week mainly flat out motorway and used 15 ltrs a week never broke down

Must have cost you more in oil than fuel!

only well cold, every now and then get a puff when i change gear

My Di uses quite a bit of oil, but i know where its going!!! all over the drive!!

i would say she is useing a little ,but that would be ok ,as long as its not pooring out blue smoke! dont forget to run it on 20/50 nice and thick this might help as well!

i had a maxi once it used 5l of oil from ilford to ipswitch bit of cream it was

I do about 250kms per week in my Mk1 and i use aproxamlty a 1litre ever two or three weeks, i know my motor is a tad tired and it has worn valve guides - common in aussie falcon 6 cylinders. I blow a puff of blue on start up once its warm and apart from that no visable smoke or problems.
