What engine is this?

Postby Monkey2 » Mon Apr 12, 2021 4:27 am

Can anyone help me identify this engine? The guy I bought the van from told me it was a Ford Courier engine but I'm not sure about that now....

Yeah? I have been unable to find any details online.... All the courier engines I've seen are OHC!

Thanks mate, that's interesting.... we had a Ford Courier here, a medium sized Ute, which for a time was the same as a mazda Ute. I'm just after a manual for the engine and some service parts, I've spent hours trawling websites trying to id this bloody thing!

That looks like the Mazda Perkins engine from a Mazda B2200 truck, Ford own Mazda so they may have used it.

It would be definitive, but if the oil filter has a part number on you would be able to check fitment and it will give you a steer?

Update, confirmed as a Mazda S2. A 2.2ltr Diesel as fitted to the Mazda b2200 and Ford Courier. Actually made/designed by Perkins.

Found a set of push rods and head gasket and yesterday got it running!

Thanks for your help, now onto the nice bits.....

The camper interior has seen good progress, bit of rotten wood from a leaking roof/shower replaced, new shower base fitted, walls re insulated and new Masonite board fitted.

Where can i get panels? The only rot on the van is in the headlamp bowls and that shape is beyond my fabrication!
