king pins

Postby mk2 transit crew » Mon Aug 23, 2021 4:42 pm

Hi all,

i have been trying to do new king pins, they didnt seem too bad with play etc but pleased i have started them as the bearings didnt seem too good. I couldn't get one of the kingpins to move no matter how much heat, swearing and hammering i did!!!! and the other moved 5mm once and then wouldn't move again on a 15ton press. so i had to end up getting a company with a 160ton press to get them out. They reckon it needed 20 ton of pressure to actually move them. The downside of this is i wasn't actually there when they come out so im not sure where two washer type parts in the new king pin kit go?

I bought a genuine king pin set but no instructions as i expected.

in the kit there is 2 curved washers that im assuming are some sort of grease caps to stop grease squirting out on the top bush? if any one knows that would be great.

also i will need to ream them. Does anyone know what size reamer i need or where to buy one that will do the job?

Thankyou for any help anyone can provide?
