di won,t start

Postby hodgson4711 » Tue Oct 23, 2007 5:58 pm

hi, i need your help again. went out at the weekend everything ok came home parked the van up no problem next day started up ran awhile then cut out. found the neg battery lead lose and hot tightened it up but the engine won't now start. normally it starts on the button but now you have to turn the starter over about 20 times it starts revs for a few seconds then cuts out. its a bit like the problem you have with a pinto when the capacitor packs it. i dont think the battery lead is the problem although i could be wrong. regards H

Maybe the (lonely) electric wire that connects to the fuel pump gets loose with vibration... It happens a lot on our transit!
If misconnected, may lead to erractic behaviour like the one described.. :?

Good luck!

Huh? If you are looking to spend a grand you would be looking at a Mk5, and they have hearly as much rust as the Mk1 and the Mk2!
