Decoding the Chassis/serial number

Postby terrymwalsh » Sat Feb 05, 2022 6:28 am

Hi all from Melbourne, Australia.

A friend has a 1985 Transit full imported from the UK built in Southampton in January, 1985.

It's Chassis/Serial No. reads BDVKFJ78666R and I'd like to know what the V and K mean (model code/s?) and the R at the end of the serial number.

Thanks in advance from Downunder.

Cheers Terry
