Webber 38DGMS for Low Compression Essex V6

Postby edmason » Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:14 pm

I have a 1972 Land Rover Lightweight with a V6 Essex Low Compression Transit Engine (Steve Parker Land Rovers in Whitworth did a popular conversion back in the day).

Mine has a Weber 38DGMS carb, which is giving me problems, so I'm wondering about replacing it. There are lots of 38DGMS available set up for Scimitars & the like, & I'm wondering whether they will suit the LC engine.

Apparently Weber say they have no information about the 38DGMS & the Low Compression engine.

The standard set up on new carbs seems to be either

27mm chokes
4.0 Auxillary venturi
135 Main jets
50 Idle jets
185 Air correctors
55 Pump jets
F50 Emulsion tubes
250 Needle valve

Eurocarbs 38DGMS

or

Main jet 142
Air jet 185
Idle jet 45
Em.tube F50
Pump 55

FastRoadCars 38DGMS

Does anyone have any experience with Webers and the Transit V6 please?
