Hydraulic Assistance on a Wayfarer camper Roof

Postby NogE » Wed Mar 02, 2022 4:00 pm

as some will know the Wayfarer camper Roof is very weighty to lift up and lock inplace...
I'd like to add hydraulic struts to assist this...
anyone done this?
anyone hv any DIY ideas..

here's some pics of roof open and closed..
see the spring bars that assist the opening ?.. these give very little assistance/help when popping roof up...I'd like to keep them tho... for gen fittings etc..
but add hydraulic arms...

Do you mean has struts or full hydraulic ?

If hydraulic , as well as a Ford nut , I run a hydraulic company so I’m sure I could sort out a power pack and rams ?

interesting.....lifting this pop up is very difficult on yr own..it wobbles front side to side when lifting..it really takes two to do it easy ....not sure if the leisure battery would be enough..I'm no expert but I do know there are converters to boost the standard 12volts..this roof is very weighty too..my thoughts were hydrolic arms like u get on boot lids to help...can you please send me yr contact in a pm..sounds like it's worth talking ..cheers
