2.5di banana in mk2.

Postby mk2 transit crew » Mon Sep 19, 2022 7:39 pm

Hi All, after struggling on my own getting a 2.5di banana engine in where a old pre banana engine came out. i found it very tight. i originally had the banana manifold on however it appeared too tight so i removed this and got it in on a diagonal angle across the engine bay. but it was tight. gearbox was still attached.

i have to take it back out as im just mocking it up for the 5 speed mt75 and want to cut the gear stick hole and make the cross member fit.

Any tips or tricks to make it easier to get it in and out?

thankyou

For the air filter not 100. % sure but you maybe able to the fit the inlet and air box off your old engine as for removing and re,fitting the engine I’d remove them as one lump

Hi Dumper,

thanks for the reply. i have always read that its easier to do in one piece gearbox and engine but the banana manifold makes it a lot taller and unfortunately i dented the air intake for the interior blower. easily fixed but i think once its been painted i will probably take the entire banana manifold off as it should go in way easier. at the moment i have just taken half the manifold which i definitely think made it a little easier.
