Hi there , new member , new van ,new problems

Postby Rustfest120 » Wed Sep 28, 2022 7:29 pm

Evening all , after acquiring my first mk2 transit I’ve hit problems trying to register it as it’s an import , after going backwards and forwards with the Dvla I think I’m getting there ! So the van was first registered in 1981 however the Dvla want proof of the vehicles exact age this isn’t stated on the original v5 and the box is marked xxxx xxxx I understand the last 2 letters on the vin number represent year and month the van was built but how can I prove this to them ? Any help I’d be very grateful sorry for the rant !

I can give a month & year date of manufacture for you if you give me the vin number, & a screen shot fom the Ford book to attach with your application?

Thankyou , VIN is TW2VXXCPVVBM83451 surely the Dvla can tell from this when the van was built !

if it was registered here in 81 they might not still have the record if it was marked as exported or scrapped ?

Hi, The Vin indicates that this vehicle was assembled in Year B=1981 and Month M=3(March). Also, is indicated that vehicle was manufactured in England (C) but assembled in Portugal (P). Does this help?
