Water leak and now battery light

Postby rodduz84 » Wed Oct 05, 2022 6:57 pm

Hi,

I've had a water leak for a while, got the part (water pump) to change just had no time yet.

The belt squeals from time to time, guessing from water leaking on to it.

Today driving home the battery light has come on and no power steering.

Could thus be the belt slipping and not charging alternator?

Thanks

Have you checked the belt hasn't snapped or come off?

Yes, it's still there. I just drove it again for 15 minutes, light went off after about a minute, had power steering the whole journey. Water is near empty so not much to drip out on to the belt in guessing.

Sooner I get five to change pump the better.

Reckon a rad seal/ water leak type thing be any help in the mean time? Literally not got a spare hour lately
