problems starting my mk1

Postby shepped0 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 11:22 pm

Hi All
Looking for a bit of guidance
Owned my petrol v4 1969 Transit for a long time now but only recently i am having some issues when i start it.
The van resides in my garage and gets started every 2/3 weeks just to ensure everything is good.
Recently i have struggled to get it started having to turn it over many times before it starts.
I know this is down to a fuel issue as i can use easy start and it will cough and splutter and then go without issue.
This problem only seems to occur if i have left the van without starting it for 3 weeks or so. It feels like there is a problem getting fuel from the tank to the engine..as though it has evaporated in the fuel line .
I dont recall this to be a problem before..maybe cranking a few times but never this long
Any help or guidance much appreciated
David

could be fuel draining back into the tank with standing? thought of an electric pump maybe , there is a in line non return valve you can fit also , if i leave mine a few weeks you can hear the pump taking time to prime so a manual pump will be even longer
