mk2 pinto air filter nightmare

Postby mike c » Mon Nov 26, 2007 7:42 pm

im struggling to find the right air filter for my transit - mk2 115 bus 1985 with a 2.0 pinto petrol engine.

the three the motor factors (a ford dealer- transit specialist lol with a unipart combined ) have given me dont fit and to top it of the one that is in there isnt even right, i need a round one for a pancake style filter box but they just give me ones that are too small in diameter.

the one that's in there has had the rubber bit cut and the concertina paper element unravelled a bit to make it fit

what doi i do - where do i go and what do i ask for?

thanks
Mike

Hi I had the same problem with mine, if you write down the part number on the air filter case (on the top by the screws that hold it on) mine was some thing like 87hf-12a234-aa take that to your ford dealer, he can then look up the box on his microcat which will show him the air fillter element you need (mine turned out to be off a sierra)
Hope this helps Dave

cheers dave,

tried that, got the ford number 76hf9600aa off my airbox - they turned up the part number 6031599 but its not something they can get (it is a unipart and ford dealer)

is that right for your number, i'll try that tomorrow.

Thanks

Mike

Mike you need to think laterally! Try one for the cortina or even granada, Mk2 parts are often not listed. Yesterday I bought an alternator for a Mk1 V4, despite it not being listed. I asked for one for the consul, and hey presto it was in stock!
