So long as you have the logbook for the vehicle, contact tagplates at Nottingham and they will make you some shiny new vin plates for around £40

The chassis number will be on the V5, but sadly you have lost a lot of the info like paint and axle codes. As comet said, pre 1980 you don't need the VIN plate for the test, just get the VIN number stamped directly on the step itself.

Hi, my ID plate has been cleaned from all paint/text, I still have all the stamped data but I'd prefer to have it reproduced. Is there any place where I can buy this?
I checked on Ebay, eBay listings but he had no items for sale?
This is the type of plate.

You could get one engraved on a lazer cutter if all else fails. There are a few companies who could do this or if you know anyone who attended a secondary school they could have access to one it would only be a case of filling in the blanks in the vin tag above and sending the image to the lazer. Not original but would get the job done
