Handbrake Cable

Postby Mikexx » Sun Jun 23, 2024 7:36 pm

This is a twin wheeled 1972 Motorhome with a coach-built rear after the cab.

I have made some crude measurements of the cable, minus the part inside the drum and backplate.

I have measured a nominal 940mm on he driver side and 1200mm on the passenger side. These measurements were taken with some difficulty as there isn't a whole lot of ground clearance.

I am reluctant to go the whole hog and take it all off at this point for more accurate measurements.

However, can anyone steer me to a correct part number? I did read somewhere there were only two sizes fitted to Transits of this era.

Lee at Batchelor Ford Spares has all my stock of new MK1 & MK2 handbrake cables now that I have retired.

Many thanks.

I can't find any links to "Batchelor Ford spares" but I did find a Lee Batchelor on Facebook. I've PMed him on FB.

I'm pretty sure they're two lengths, and think I need the shorter one.

Stephen of Batchelor's Ford Spare's kindly sorted me out with a cable exactly the same length.

I thought there were only 2 lengths but it seems there are more.
