Ford Transit 1750 engine

Postby dykker5502 » Sun Feb 02, 2025 7:19 pm

I'm in the process of buying what is registered as a Ford Transit 1750 from 1970. As you can see with a socalled Bullnose:

It have a Volvo B19A engine (!!) and I may get challenges getting it MOT'ed in Denmark, so I wonder if I should find an original engine and swap it back.

What engines was 1750? What engine options had the bullnose? Have it originally been diesel or was bullnose both diesel and petrol.

Originally the mk 1 bullnose had a Perkins 4108 diesel it was replaced with the Ford 2.4 York engine not 100% sure but the last of the mk1 s had the 2.5 di back in the day it was easy to replace a York with a di.
As for petrol the Essex V6 and I think the 2.0 l pinto ,in the flat front van it was the V 4 and they did also had a 1.6 Kent engine .

Thanks! I can see in the Danish register that most 1750's are petrol but some are diesels so both fuels must have been offered was my conclusion.

The hunt for a good Essex V6 is in to replace the Volvo B19A currently in. :-)
