MK2 Brake master cylinder

Postby Caulky » Mon Jan 07, 2008 5:44 pm

Hi all,
About a week ago the brake pedal almost went to the floor.
Took the van to a local diesel garage. Today I was told that they are unable to repair the brakes, because the master cylinders are obsolete.
Looking on Ebay, I found `Autoparts Surplus` who can supply two port tandem type...4 pot caliper Bendix for the transit 100 1978 to 1985.
Sounds about right. But when I asked the bloke at the garage, if it was the right one, "dunno" he said..."There were five different types fitted to those Transits". Happy days!
Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Dave

and another parts supplier. The rubbers are still available from firms like Newsons, you just have to look a bit harder, something many garages and motorfactors seem unwilling to do.
As for there being five different types he might find if he takes the radical step of seeing what type you have fitted (which admittedly does mean getting out of his chair) he might be able to work out which type you've got.

Any idea which are the primary and secondary outlets?
The inside diameter (according to Haynes) is either 23.8mm or 22.2mm, depending whether the primary/secondary drives the front or rear brakes.

[The 23.8mm primary supplies the front]
[The 22.2mm secondary supplies the front]

Hi Billy,
I`ve lost your email address, too many system faults.
If you have one, I would be very grateful.
I`ll need to contact you for payment, etc.
Cheers
