Mk II V6

Postby WillTravelToo » Fri Jan 25, 2008 9:56 pm

The MOT authority in The Netherlands are under the impression that the Mk II was never offered with a V6. Any clues to the contrary?

I would have said that about the ambies, yet both our mk2s (from different body manufacturers) started life as 160 2L chassis cabs.

most were svo converted but the chassis plates never altered so when they got registered log books said they were 2 ltr,a lot of v6 mk 2 s have been driving round for 20 odd years and as far as dvla goes they think they are 2 ltr

Good point, I am gonna check the V5s and get back to you. I don't think they have SVO plates either, so I assumed the conversion companies did the engines.

Spot on, I didn't see Bell's SVO plate cos it had been painted over. There isn't one on Selina (the Mk1) though but she's got a V4, was there SVO plates in the 70s? She has the usual amby thing of twin batteries.

An interesting profile on the guy who started and then killed off Hanlon is here.http://archives.tcm.ie/businesspost/2000/12/17/story953451038.asp I would imagine he'd soon put the authorities right if they didn't believe there were V6 transits!,a man after my own heart.

hat's interesting reading BD, looks like our Mk2 Hanlon could have been in the last year of production.

I could do with a few Mr Hanlons to help me fight this load of cretins in this council.
