crank shaft seal.

Postby nardu » Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:39 pm

Had a leaking crankshaft seal and about to change it. Any hints on how about to fit it properly without ruining it. Have ruined one already. Everywhere is clean and shiny already and put some oil on it already in order to slide better. by the way the engine is a 2.5 di. Regards

Did the new seal come with a fitting ring?
If my memory serves me right the fitting ring (with crank seal mounted on the outside of it) goes over the end of the crank and then just ease the seal over and onto the crank with plenty of lube.

Yes it comes with a fitting ring. I'll try it out later on. Thanks for now.
