I found the VIN-plate on the passenger side. :)

Can someone figure out what these things mean?

Motorcode: J, this is the York engine I suppose?
Gear: H, what gearbox is that?
Rear-end: type D, diff.ratio B, what's this mean then?
Colour: NG, what's the name of this colour?
Model: 190, is this the "biggest" Transit?
SVO: *, this I'm very curious about. :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

as i understand it,

for that year of transit, yes the 190 model was the "biggest" as you put it, ie usually twin rear wheel version

"svo" = special vehicle operations or something like that and means that there was some additional options (like power steering etc) taken at the time of original purchase, although if there is no codes after this then maybe there were none taken at purchase

as for the rest, those with more knowledge than me will be able to answer your queries :)

One other thing I saw on the VIN-plate is that the total weight allowed is 3490kg.
And with the mighty 62hp she develops, that sounds absolutely hilarious. :D

Okey, that will probably make it easier to order parts, when I know what model it is. :)

There's no options on my car as far as I have found out, but then again I'm no expert.
Maybe they put the * in the box for the SVO because it has no options/extras? :)

Maybe you might also like to think about a Di engine then, to go with it. It's an easy swap, specially if you buy on with the MT75 gearbox attached and do it at the same time!

That would probably be a good idea, but how much difference is there in horsepower between a York and a Di? :)
Did the Di ever come with a turbo? :D

The turbo engine is slightly differnt to the Di, but the block and how it would fit into the Mk2 is the same. You will need a brain to go with it, or get a manual pump from a specialist.

There should be an SVO plate in the opposite step, this will have the codes on, can't help with those, sorry.

All the above information relates to Transits with an English chassis plate.

Hope it's the info you want.

And before any of you start, I don't know this stuff off the top of me head, I just happen to have a workshop manual with it in.

Thank's a lot Phil! :D

My car has a German chassis plate, but the things you have listed here doesn't seem way out to me. :)

Still corious about the colour though. :)
Could it be NB instead of NG?
I read it quite fast because it was kinda cold outside.

4.63 rear end ratio. Isn't that a very common ratio for Transit's? :)
